2 Tips For Caring For Your Corn Snake

Blog

If you are interested in reptiles and would like to get one as a pet, then buying a corn snake for sale is going to be a great option for you. In terms of snakes, a corn snake is going to be relatively harmless. However, just like any other pet, you are going to need to dedicate some of your time and energy to making sure that they are properly cared for. Doing this is going to ensure that your snake continues to grow and thrive and have a happy life while under your care. There are certain tips that you will want to remember when it comes to caring for your snake. This article will discuss 2 tips for caring for your corn snake.

Make Them Feel Like They Are Catching Their Prey

In the wild, a corn snake is going to catch and constrict their prey until they are dead. At this point, they are then going to eat them. If you are feeding your corn snake live prey, they are going to be able to do this all on their own. However, if you are feeding your corn snake prey that is already dead, you are going to want to make them feel like they are catching their own prey and killing it. For example, if you are feeding your corn snake a dead mouse, you are going to want to start off by thawing this mouse out until it is room temperature. You will then want to use tongs to dangle the dead mouse in your snake's enclosure until the snake strikes at the prey and captures it from off of the tongs. This will help your snake to still use its natural instincts to hunt their food.

Fill The Tank With Different Items

A great way to help your snake feel more comfortable when they are inside of their tank is to fill it with a variety of items. By adding different plants and branches to the tank, you are going to give your snake a dark place to hide, which will make them feel more comfortable and less stressed. The branches are going to be great for them to wrap around and sleep. Including a box with an opening is also great for providing them a dark enclosure where they will feel safe and secure. Scattering these items throughout the entire tank will ensure that your snake always has a place to go within the tank where they feel comfortable.
